The Mysore Palace, also known as Amba Vilas Palace, is a historic palace and royal residence. It is located in Mysore, Karnataka. It was formerly the official residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and the seat of the Kingdom of Mysore. The palace is situated in the center of Mysore and overlooks the Chamundi Hills to the east. Mysore is commonly described as the “city of palaces,” and there are seven palaces, including this one. However, the Mysore Palace specifically refers to the palace within the new fort. The land on which the palace now stands was originally known as mysuru (literally, “citadel”). Yaduraya built the first palace in the old fort in the 14th century, which was burned down and rebuilt several times. The old fort was built of wood and therefore easily caught fire, while the current fort is built of stone, brick, and wood. The current structure was built between 1897 and 1912; after the old palace burned down, it is also known as the New Fort. Mysore Palace is one of the most famous tourist attractions in India, after the Taj Mahal, with more than six million visitors annually.

Ooty, officially known as Udhagamandalam, is a city in the Western Ghats Mountains in the state of Tamil Nadu, in southern India. It was founded as a British Raj summer resort and still has an active steam railway. Other reminders of the colonial past include Stone House, a 19th-century residence, and Stephen’s Church. The approximately 55-hectare botanical garden is located on the slopes of Doddabetta Peak.
After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a train ride in the Nilgiri Mountains. In the afternoon, visit Doddabetta Peak, the botanical gardens, and Ooty Lake. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the lake.
The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1000 mm gauge railway in Tamil Nadu, India, built by the British in 1908 and operated by the Southern Railway. The NMR is the only rack and pinion railway in India. The railway relies on its fleet of steam locomotives. The NMR switched to diesel locomotives on the section between Coonoor and Udhagamanda. Locals and visitors campaigned for the return of steam locomotives in this section. In July 2005, UNESCO added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway to its World Heritage List as an extension of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. The site then became known as the Mountain Railways of India.

Ramanathaswamy Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Shiva on the island of Rameshwaram in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is also one of the twelve jyotirlinga temples. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams, where three of the most revered Nayanars (Saivite saints), Appar, Sundarar, and Tirugnana Sambandar, graced the temple with their songs. The temple was expanded in the 12th century by the Pandya dynasty. Its main shrine was renovated by Jeyaveera Cinkaiariyan and his successor, Gunaveera Cinkaiariyan of the Jaffna kingdom. The temple has the longest corridor of any Hindu temple in India. Located in Rameswaram, the temple is considered a sacred pilgrimage site by Shaivites, Vaishnavites, and Smarthas.

This beautifully carved temple is Madurai’s main attraction and the holiest place of worship in South India. Another attraction is the Thirumalai Nayak Mahal, an ornate palace built in the Indo-Saracenic style.
Meenakshi Amman Temple is a historic temple located on the south bank of the Vaigai River in the temple city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu, India. It is dedicated to the Goddess Meenakshi, a form of Parvati, and her consort, Sundareshwarar, a form of Shiva. The temple forms the heart and lifeblood of the 2,500-year-old city of Madurai and is an important symbol for the Tamil people.
Most of the current structure was built between 1623 and 1655. It is said that the temple was originally built in the 6th century BC by survivors of the Kumari Kandam. In the 14th century, the Muslim commander Malik Kafur plundered the temple of its valuables.

Ancient Indian traders sailing to Southeast Asian countries sailed from the seaport of Mahabalipuram.
