Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival in Bangalore

Today you arrive in Bangalore. After meeting at the airport, you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Day 2: Bangalore

After breakfast, you will take a city tour and visit Vidhana Soudha, Lal Bagh, the Bull Temple, the ISKCON Temple, and MG Road.

Bengaluru (Bangalore) is the capital of the southern state of Karnataka in India. It is the center of India’s high-tech industry and is also known for its green parks and nightlife. Near Cubbon Park is Vidhana Soudha, a Neo-Dravidian-style building. Former royal residences include the 19th-century Bangalore Palace, modeled after England’s Windsor Castle, and Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, an 18th-century teak structure.

Day 3: Bangalore – Mysore (approximately 145 km / 4 hours)

After breakfast, you will drive to Mysore, also known as the city of palaces. After arriving at your hotel, you will have the rest of the day at leisure.

Mysore—officially renamed Mysuru—is the third most populous city in the state of Karnataka. Located at the foot of the Chamundi Hills, approximately 146 km (91 miles) southwest of the capital, Bangalore, it covers an area of 128.42 km². According to the 2011 national census, the city had a population of 887,446.

Day 4: Mysore

Today you will enjoy a half-day tour of Mysore, visiting the Maharaja’s Palace, the opulent Brindavan Gardens with its dancing fountains built on the terraces of Krishnarajasagar Dam, the imposing Gothic-style St. Philomena Church, and the Chamundi Hills.

Mysore Palace is a historic palace. It is the official residence and seat of the Wodeyar royal family of Mysore, who ruled the princely state from 1399 to 1950. The palace houses two Durbar Halls (ceremonial meeting rooms of the royal court) and features arranged courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The palace is located in the central area of Mysore and overlooks the Chamundi Hills to the east. Mysore is often described as the city of palaces. There are approximately seven palaces, including this one; however, “Mysore Palace” specifically refers to the old Fort.

Day 5: Mysore – Ooty (approximately 140 km / 4 hours) - test

Today you travel on to Ooty. After arrival, you have the rest of the day at leisure.

Ooty (short for Udhagamandalam) is a town (hill station) in the Western Ghats mountains, in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Founded as a British Raj (royal) summer residence, it has a working steam railway. Other reminders of its colonial past include the Stone House, a 19th-century building, and St. Stephen’s Church, built around 1829. The Botanical Gardens are located on the slopes of Doddabetta Peak.

Day 6: Ooty

After breakfast, you will take a Toy Train ride on the Nilgiri Mountains. In the afternoon, you will visit Doddabetta Peak, the Botanical Gardens, and Ooty Lake. In the evening, enjoy a boat trip on Ooty Lake.

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway (NMR) is a 1000 mm gauge railway in Tamil Nadu, built by the British in 1908 and operated by Southern Railway. The NMR is the only cog railway in India. In recent years, diesel locomotives have replaced steam locomotives on this route between Coonoor and Udhagamandalam. However, locals and tourists have launched a campaign to restore the use of steam locomotives. In July 2005, UNESCO added the Nilgiri Mountain Railway as an extension of the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway World Heritage Site, which subsequently became known as the Mountain Railways of India.

Day 7: Ooty – Cochin (approximately 290 km / 7 to 8 hours)

Today you travel to Cochin. Upon arrival, you check in at your hotel.

Day 8: Cochin

After breakfast, you will visit Cochin, visiting the Jewish Synagogue, the Dutch Palace, and the Chinese fishing nets. In the evening, you can enjoy a traditional Kathakali dance performance.

Cochin, or Kochi, is located in the middle of an island surrounded by a harbor and has a modern, bustling city called Ernakulam. This is the commercial center for traders in cashew nuts, coconut, fish, timber, tea, coffee, rubber, and spices. This trade gives Kerala the name “the spice coast.” A Jewish community with roots dating back to 1000 AD and a 16th-century synagogue testify to the state’s diversity. Ernakulam district is the largest tourist destination for both Indian and international travelers.

Day 9: Cochin – Alleppey (approximately 60 km / 1.5 hours)

Today you continue your journey to Alleppey. Upon arrival, you will check in to an air-conditioned deluxe houseboat. The rest of the day is at your leisure. (All meals are included, and you’ll also spend the night on the houseboat.)

Alleppey is a city on the Laccadive Sea in the southern Indian state of KerIt is best known for houseboat cruises along the tranquil Kerala backwaters, a network of tranquil canals and lagoons. Alappuzha Beach is the site of the 19th-century Alappuzha Lighthouse. Mullakkal Temple has a traditional feel. The Punnamada Lake snake boat races are a well-known annual event.

Day 10: Alleppey – Kovalam (approximately 160 km / 3 to 4 hours)

After breakfast on the houseboat, you continue your journey to Kovalam.

Kovalam is a small coastal town in the state of Kerala, south of Thiruvananthapuram. At the southern end of Lighthouse Beach is a striped lighthouse with a viewing platform. Here, palm trees even line the beaches, as they do at Hawa Beach and Samudra Beach. Further south, the Vizhinjam Juma Masjid mosque overlooks the bustling fishing harbor. Inland, the Sagarika Marine Research Aquarium showcases the technology used in pearl production.

Day 11: Kovalam – Trivandrum – Kovalam (approximately 20 km / 45 min one way)

After breakfast at the hotel, you will take an excursion to Trivandrum today. Here you will visit the Napier Museum, the Sree Chitra Art Gallery, Kuthiramalika Palace Museum, and Padmanabhaswamy Temple. In the late afternoon or early evening, you will return to your hotel in Kovalam.

Day 12: Kovalam – Kanyakumari – Kovalam (approximately 95 km / 2 hours one way)

Another excursion is on the program today. After breakfast, you will travel to Kanyakumari. From the southernmost tip of India, you will take a guided boat trip to the famous offshore rock where spiritual leader Swami Vivekananda spent days in meditation.

Day 13 : Kovalam

Today you can spend your free time at leisure and/or relax after the journey. You can also enjoy an Ayurvedic massage or treatment and the beautiful beaches.

Day 14: Kovalam – Trivandrum

Today you travel to Trivandrum for the return trip back to your home.(20 km/45 min).
